First of all, the Ducati Diavel V4 is one of the nine motorcycles that Ducati promised to launch in 2023 in India. It shares the same engine as the Multistrada V4, which goes by the name of the Granturismo engine, which is an 1158cc V4 engine. At 25.91 lakhs, this motorcycle is quite premium. Let’s know more about it.

Ducati Diavel V4 Engine

The Bologna brand upgraded to V4 engines in 2018. The previous generation Ducati Diavel’s motor was a 1262 cc twin cylinder. Now, the bike gets a new engine, the GranTurismo 1158cc V4 engine. V4 means it runs on 4 cylinders, which are at 90 degrees to each other. It provides better power and efficiency, according to the manufacturer.

It uses the same motor as the Multistrada V4, which is more of an adventure bike. But, in the Ducati Diavel V4, the tuning is different. The Ducati Diavel V4 engine produces a power of 168hp and a torque of 126 Nm. It is 2hp less and 1Nm more torque as compared to the Multistrada V4. But also, the new Diavel V4 produces 9hp more than the previous generation model.

There is an exciting feature in this bike: the cylinder deactivation system. Out of the 4 cylinders, two rear cylinders shut down when needed. This feature not only helps in reducing heating issues but also fuel consumption.

Diavel V4 Design

It is a beautiful bike. Its steel fuel tank is not only well sculpturally but also well designed using animation. The fuel tank gives it a supersport bike look. The air intake on the sides of the bike enhances its muscular look. The front LED DRLs have a double C-shape. In the rear, too, an array of point LEDs are there under the tail, repeating the double C design of the front DRL.

The five-spoke wheel with machine-cut alloys looks stylish and compliments the muscular look of the bike. The silencer of the Ducati Diavel V4 has four openings. It seems like a big, heavy machine gun on the back. The muscular lines all over the body of Diavel V4 make you keep looking at it. The big fat tire looks beautiful on this superbike.

Ducati Diavel V4 chassis, ergonomics, brakes

Ducati is now using four cylinders as compared to two cylinders in the outgoing models. Still, the brand can reduce the weight of the bike by more than 13 kg. The main reason for the weight reduction is due to the new frame of this bike. Ducati is now using an aluminum monocoque construction in its structure as compared to the steel trellis frame of the outgoing model. It has reduced the weight by 8 kg, and now the bike weighs 236 kg, hence improving the agility and handling.

Talking about suspension, it gets 50mm USD forks up front with a travel range of 120 mm. At the rear, it gets a mono-shock suspension (145 mm travel), and both are fully adjustable. It marks a 15 mm increase in travel as compared to the last generation model. Also, the handlebar is now 20 mm closer to the rider for a comfortable ride. The seat height, however, stands at 790 mm.

The braking of the Ducati Diavel V4 is taken care of by Brembo. On the front, it gets two 330 mm diameter floating discs. At the rear, it gets a 265 mm diameter disc, which uses a two-piston caliper for its operation.

On the front rim, we get a 120/70 ZR17 tyre. While at the rear, Diavel V4 gets 240/45 ZR17 tyres. The tyres in the Ducati Diavel V4 are of Pirelli Diablo Rosso III.

Ducati installs a new 5.0-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity in the Diavel V4. Surprisingly, the Ducati Diavel V4 has four riding modes: Sport, Touring, Urban, and the new Wet mode.

The new wet mode is specifically designed for surfaces with less grip. Also, each mode gets a power mode, which determines the behavior of the engine and the level of electronic aid that helps in the better riding of the bike.

Diavel V4 comes in one variant only and is launched in only two colors: Ducati Red and Thrilling Black. The Supersports bike demands Rs 25.91 lakh.
