Triumph Scrambler 400 X – Engine

Triumph Scrambler 400 X also gets the same 398cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine as in Speed 400. Even the Power and Torque outputs are the same, i.e. 40hp and 37.5Nm. Like the Speed 400, it also gets a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.

Triumph Scrambler 400 X – Suspension

Even the main frame of the Triumph Scrambler 400 X is the same as its sibling. So, the main difference lies in the suspension. The Scrambler 400 X gets a taller suspension unit and a 19-inch front wheel. It is 9 kg heavier than Speed 400.

It is an off-roader motorcycle; thus, the manufacturer raises the suspension of the Triumph Scrambler 400 X to get the job done. Due to the taller suspension, the seat height is 835 mm compared to 790 mm of Speed 400. With wider handlebars, the riding position is commanding. The 195 mm ground clearance also increases due to the taller suspension, which is 25mm more than Speed 400.

Triumph Scrambler 400 X – Features

Features of Scrambler 400 X remain almost identical to Speed 400. Due to its offroad DNA, some parts are added to it. An aluminium sump guard to protect the engine from mud waters and big rocks. A headlight grille to prevent heavy stones from hitting the headlight and breaking the glass.

The Triumph Scrambler 400 X is very easy to ride. You just feel that you are riding a bike which is yours for a long time. The wide handlebars are nice to hold on to. The throttle response is very linear and you do not feel the weight of the bike at all. As nit is an off-roader its suspension is tuned in such a way that you glide all the way on the bad roads. One thing for sure the Triumph Scrambler 400 X will put a smile on your face every time you put it into action.

Triumph Scrambler 400 X – Price and rivals

The price of the Scrambler 400 X is Rs 30,000 more than the Speed 400, which is reasonable. You get a fantastic scrambler motorcycle at a price point of 2,62,996 lakhs. You can go off-roading, and adventure lovers can spend this much money on the love of adventure.

Only one option in the scrambler category with a liquid-cooled engine: Yezdi Scrambler 2.10 – 2.12 lakh. Yezdi Scrambler is less feature-rich than Scrambler 400 X, so you can opt it out. Very close to the Triumph Scrambler 400 X is the newly launched KTM Duke 390, priced at 2.81 lakh. Though 18,000 is more expensive, the engineering on the Duke 390 is remarkable.

Another competition in talks is the Himalayan 450, which Royal Enfield will launch soon. Though it is not a scrambler but an adventure tourer, it can steal Triumph’s customers. The demand for adventure tourers is increasing day by day. People want more features and a rugged companion they can take anywhere.
